Dual Degree Programs and Certifications

Broad prepares students to be leaders in the changing global marketplace. As part of that commitment, we provide MBA students with multidisciplinary opportunities.

Dual Degree: Business and Medicine

Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine and the Eli Broad College of Business offers a dual-degree program for highly motivated students who are interested in developing business competency in medical practice and to prepare physicians for careers in healthcare leadership.

Graduates of the dual degree will gain expanded career opportunities and reinforce their clinical education in the marketplace. The program is designed to be completed in five years. The MBA portion of the joint degree specializes in Management, Strategy and Leadership.

Students who go through the dual degree will complete their first year in the Broad MBA program and then move over to the College of Osteopathic Medicine to fulfill all the requirements of the DO program (while completing the rest of their MBA credits online). Applicants must fulfill (both) the DO and MBA application requirements to be considered for the dual degree.

Dual Degree: Business and law

Students may pursue a dual degree in law and business through our joint program with Michigan State University’s College of Law. Twelve credits from the Law program count toward required MBA electives, shortening the timeframe required to complete both degrees.

Dual Degree: Business and global management

Students interested in international business can pursue Broad’s dual degree program with the Thunderbird School of Global Management in Glendale, Arizona. The program offers students both a master of global management from Thunderbird and an MBA from Michigan State University. Students who participate typically start their studies in the Broad MBA program and complete their degree requirements through Thunderbird.

CFA Certification Support

Broad is one of 36 MBA programs nationwide designated as a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Program Partner of the CFA Institute.

The CFA Institute is a global nonprofit association of investment professionals that awards a number of designations, including the CFA designation. The CFA is considered the investment profession’s most rigorous credentialing program.

The CFA Institute partners with globally diverse, high-profile institutions who cover a significant portion of the CFA Program Candidate Body of Knowledge and who embrace the CFA Institute Code of Ethics and Standards of Professional Conduct in their degree programs.

Broad’s participation as a CFA Program Partner ensures interested students are well prepared to sit for the CFA exams. Students who wish to earn the CFA designation have access to academic support for all three levels of the CFA examination.  Scholarships are available through the institute for qualified students.
