The Broad Black MBA Association is a new organization to the Eli Broad School of Graduate Management. This organization is dedicated to fostering a community among black students or any student committed to diversity at Broad. The Broad Black MBA Association is committed to:
- The professional, academic and personal development of the aforementioned students.
- The recruitment of ethnically diverse students to The Eli Broad Graduate School of Management.
When transitioning into a new environment, many students are unsure of what to expect. The Broad Black MBA Association’s goal is to help alleviate apprehension and uncertainty through various workshops and events aimed at preparing members for upcoming courses and job fairs/conferences. Equally as important is the need for students to feel a sense of community and support. This was the impetus for the Broad Black MBA Association’s inception. Through events and social gatherings, the Black MBA Association will look to foster personal relationships among members with the intent of creating a true sense of community.
In regards to corporate recruitment, a top priority of many companies is building an ethnically diverse workforce. The Broad Black MBA Association’s involvement in preparing members for coursework, career fairs and interviews will create qualified minority candidates who will be competitive in both the summer and full-time employment markets. Moreover, we will provide networking opportunities with recruiters who share our commitment to diversity.
Lastly, we aspire to add new chapters to the Broad Black MBA legacy by recruiting highly talented prospective students to our MBA program. This occurs most notably during Diversity Preview Weekend. The Association plans to have a continued influence on this important recruiting event. We believe this event is one of the cornerstones of ensuring that The Eli Broad Graduate School of Management’s student body mirrors the ethnic diversity found in today’s workplace.
