On Friday, January 17, 2014, the the Broad Women MBA Association were invited to attend InForum’s 12th Annual Auto Show Breakfast in Detroit.  The Auto Show is the premier auto showcase in the country, with a number of invitational events preceding the public opening.  The Broad WMBAA’s attendance at the breakfast was made possible by the generous corporate sponsorship of Bosch, and provided the unique opportunity to hear from executives across the auto industry, including keynote speaker Mark Fields, Ford Motor Company’s Chief Operating Officer. As part of the interactive discussion that ensued, Mr. Fields shared, in part, his thoughts on Ford and the global automotive business environment, the impact of technology, and the importance of attracting women to the industry. The latter being the main focus of Inforum’s AutomoviteNext initiative.

In the networking event that followed, the Broad women joined undergraduate and graduate students from universities across the country and Canada.  However, the highlight was the valuable perspective gained from current male and female automotive executives who sat with the students to gladly answer their questions and provide important insight into their careers.  When the event concluded, each attendee was given the added bonus of two tickets to the Auto Show.
